In this blog article, we share the reflections of one of our recent students on our Level 3 Massage Diploma course.
When I first considered training in massage, I honestly thought I might be a little out of my depth. I had always been interested in wellbeing and loved the idea of helping people feel better in their own bodies, but I had never done anything quite like this before. Life had been busy with other commitments – work, family, and the usual day-to-day distractions – but the call to do something more meaningful kept tugging at me. I think we all know that feeling!
Eventually, I took the leap and signed up for the Level 3 Massage Diploma with Natural Touch Training. I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made.
Nerves and New Beginnings
Like many people, I arrived at the first class full of nerves. I questioned whether I’d be able to keep up, whether my hands would ever feel confident, and whether I’d remember all the anatomy. But those fears quickly eased as I met the tutor and the other two students. There was such a supportive, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone was there to learn, and no one expected perfection – only progress. I loved the fact that Natural Touch Training only teach in small groups, with really experienced tutors, and that the pace and timing is flexible. There is no pressure, and lots of support!
For me, the tutor made all the difference. Her knowledge, patience, encouragement and care helped me realise that this wasn’t just a technical course. It was also a journey of personal growth, connection, and self-belief.
Learning the Craft
The course itself was a brilliant mix of hands-on practice and theory. I found the online anatomy units surprisingly fascinating, and they gave me a whole new appreciation for how complex and beautiful the human body is. I was a big daunted by the idea of the final exam for this part of the course, but when it came down to it I passed first time and got 96% which I was so chuffed about!
But it was the practical sessions where everything really came to life. There was something so moving about giving a massage for the first time and seeing someone completely relax under my hands. It gave me a deep sense of purpose. Yes, there were moments when I doubted myself or felt overwhelmed, but I was never alone. We supported each other, laughed together, and grew in confidence week by week. Working on each other really helped to create a bond between us as students, and we shared our stories and experiences during the breaks and even after the course.
The Highs and the Challenges
Some of the highs for me included the first time I completed a full-body treatment, passing my assessments, of course, and the sense of achievement after every class. There were definitely tough moments too; juggling finding time for practice between sessions in amongst my everyday responsibilities, learning to trust my instincts, and pushing through the occasional wave of self-doubt.
But each challenge taught me something valuable. I learned to slow down, to breathe, to listen more deeply – not just to others, but to myself.
What Comes Next
Now that I’ve completed the diploma, I feel a sense of real excitement about the future. I’m already seeing my first clients and building a small practice from home. I have a small studio in the garden where I do my morning yoga, and I think I will use that space to see clients too. It’s cosy and inviting. I’m also looking into further training to specialise in areas like deep tissue, hot stones, and even holistic therapies. My long-term dream is to create a calming space where people can come to unwind, reconnect and heal their body and mind.
Most importantly, I now feel like I am doing something truly aligned with who I am which feels exciting and makes me really optimistic about the future.
